The Lights of Mill Bridge - Turku, Finland (5 Photos)

Myllysilta (Mill Bridge) is one of the many bridges crossing Aurajoki (Aura river) in the city of Turku, Southwest Finland. The bridge was built in 2011.

"Mylly" means "mill" in Finnish. The bridge is named after an old mill, Samppalinna Mill, built in 1860. You can spot the mill in the photo below, in the upper right corner.

Myllysilta is especially beautiful at night. The interplay of lights and water and their reflections on the bridge create an ever-changing display of light art.

The atmosphere under the bridge is eerie, especially during quiet nights. If you stop for a moment and stare into the illuminated water, you may spot some fish jumping and splashing, adding more movement into the ever-changing reflections of light and waves.

There used to be an old bridge, also called Myllysilta, in the same spot. The previous bridge was built in 1975 and demolished in 2010 due to a structural failure. I'm actually happy about it because the new bridge is more beautiful!

If you're curious, check out Wikipedia for more info about the bridge. There are some photos of the old Mill Bridge as well.
